Background
On 24 June 2025, the U.S. Embassy, AmCham Sweden, and LabVantage hosted the latest of a series of invitation-only seminars, in the American Garden, Visby, during Almedalen Week. The theme was “Multiple-Use Innovation in Defense and Healthcare” and it brought together 30 high-level participants from government, healthcare, academia, industry, and the total defence sector. The seminar focused on how technologies and systems developed for national security can be adapted to the needs of healthcare and society, and vice versa.
Purpose
Building on the strong engagement and interest generated during previous events, LabVantage and the U.S Embassy in Sweden, together with key partners, now aim to expand the concept. In November, the Forum for Unified Resilience will bring together an even broader range of stakeholders from Sweden and the United States. The aim is to further explore practical applications of dual-use innovations, identify new opportunities for cooperation, and lay the groundwork for joint initiatives that can deliver tangible benefits across sectors.
